Important information-

  • The book: We'll be reading Marcus Vega No Habla Español by Pablo Cartaya. Students are responsible for getting a copy of the book. If you have a Kindle, I recommend reading on Kindle for ease of looking up vocab without disrupting your reading flow.
  • What level: Intermediate-Advanced students. Not recommended for students who have been studying Spanish for less than a year.
  • Book Club Meetings: Tuesdays 8pm Eastern via Zoom. Tuesday, June 24th - Tuesday, August 26th. These sessions will be recorded and posted for anyone who can't attend live.
  • What will the meetings be like?
    • 30 minutes discussion in Spanish: We'll use the discussion questions that are posted a full week ahead of class for this section.
    • 15-20 minutes grammar review: Questions about grammar? Need to deepen your understanding of sentence structure and verb tenses? Bring your questions to this part of class and I'll help clarify!
    • 10-15 minutes sharing sentences with new vocab: For those students who are not quite ready to jump into the discussion in Spanish, but still need their much needed practice of producing the language, create sentences using some of the new vocab from that week's reading
  • It's more than just the meetings! Participate in weekly challenges to guide your reading: Practice your Spanish and deepen your understanding of the book by posting responses to discussion questions and uploading audios reading out loud. Share new vocab you've learned and create sentences using those new words.
  • Exclusive Resources: I've been studying Spanish for 20 years and have been teaching it for 4 years. I know the parts that will be challenging for you! Receive explanations of challenging parts, access to my notes and discussion questions.
